FEAST Dinners to Fund Arts Projects Come to Oklahoma City
FEAST (Funding Emerging Art with Sustainable Tactics), an arts funding concept that premiered in Brooklyn, will make its first appearance in Oklahoma City this spring. FEAST is a series of recurring public dinners designed to use community-driven financial support to democratically fund art makers. The Oklahoma first dinner, sponsored by The Paseo Artists Association, will be held on March 13 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Picasso’s on Paseo, 3009 Paseo.
At each FEAST, patrons make a donation which pays for their dinner and a ballot. During the evening patrons dine, listen to artist proposals and have an opportunity to discuss proposed projects with the artists. The artist receiving the most votes at the event is awarded a grant to assist in funding their projects. The grant amount is comprised of that evening’s door money.
Ashley Griffith, owner of a.k.a. gallery on Paseo and originator of the events in Oklahoma City, explained,”FEAST is a creative and inexpensive way for those who support the arts to participate in helping artists, particularly young emerging artists, secure the resources necessary to allow them to fulfill their creative visions. We think this will be both a fun and rewarding new way to support Oklahoma City and area artists.”
Tickets for the event are $30 and reservations can be made through the Paseo Artists Association here. Organizers plan four dinners a year at varying locations.
